Emmanuel Apraku, known more popularly in art circles as Ray Styles, a nick-name he acquired in secondary school is a Ghanaian born artist who’s talents span a wide spectrum. From hyper-realistic pencil portraiture, digital realistic and caricature art, he certainly is a jack of many trades and indeed a master of all. Being the son of a great craftsman, Ray attributes his natural flair to his late father Mr. Paul Apraku who in his time created a lot of artworks for exhibition. This influenced him to start drawing at a very young age and eventually landing commissions. But it was not until his days as a Communications Student at the KNUST that he realised his true potential as an artist and subsequently defined his own unique style in the form of caricature, pencil art, traditional drawing and in graphic design.
Perhaps, what Ray Styles is most popular for is his Penciled Celebrities series which have captured the fascination of many social media enthusiast all over the world. He has worked with great celebrities such as Josh Ostrovsky (know as thefatjewish), Michael Blackson, Chris Bosh, Tolu Lope (known as dontjealousme), DeStorm Power (known as destorm), KingBach, Mrcocoyam, D Black, Edem, and Malin Björk just to mention a few. He is also an avid keyboardist and footballer and loves to listen to good music.
